Farrer Ridge NR
Description: We will walk a loop through the remnant woodland vegetation along the trails that are mostly flat, but with the occasional short climb. Birds to be seen include: Scarlet Robin, various thornbill species, pardalotes, rosellas, Australian King Parrots and possibly Wedge-tailed Eagles and other small raptors.
Meeting time and place: 0830 at Muresk St entrance to the reserve.

Post event report
Eleven members and guests met at the Muresk St entry. The walk started with the track around the base, and continued on to the reservoir, returning via the track behind the houses. For quite some time we were hearing Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos over on Wanniassa Hill, but eventually four flew over to Farrer Ridge and could be included on our bird list. Large numbers of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos and Galahs were seen feeding on the ground, as well as a few checking out possible nest hollows. A mixed feeding flock of small birds included Buff-rumped, Yellow-rumped and Brown Thornbills, as well as Golden Whistlers. Spotted Pardalotes were seen near the edge of the reserve, and up to six Satin Bowerbirds were flying across the track.
